About the course

A range of tutorial workshops alongside monthly one-to-one visits from your dedicated Development Coach. Learners will be required to present a work-based project they have led as part of the programme. Property Maintenance Operatives work in the construction and built environment sector. They ensure buildings are kept in good repair and in a safe working condition. Their skills are essential across a range of industries, including housing, healthcare, social care, hospitality, education, commercial, leisure, retail, and both private and public sectors. Operatives must understand various building systems such as electrical, plumbing, plant, safety systems, and equipment. They are responsible for identifying and responding to faults, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, and meeting building safety regulations and legislation.

Entry Requirements

To start the qualification, apprentices must be:

  • Aged 16 or over
  • Living in England
  • Not in full-time education

 

Learners are required to have an existing level of achievement in Maths and English, either:

  • Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths and English
  • GCSE Maths and English at grade C or higher, or grade 4 or higher
  • An equivalent qualification

 

If learners are not at this level, they will work towards these qualifications as part of their apprenticeship, delivered as Functional Skills.

Apprentices learn transferable skills that enable them to enter roles such as:

  • Property Engineer
  • Maintenance Engineer
  • Maintenance Manager
  • Maintenance Technician
  • Facilities Manager in various sectors including housing, healthcare, social care, hospitality, education, commercial properties, leisure, retail, and both public and private sector buildings

 

Learners can also progress to further study through a Level 3 qualification in a construction specialism or trade of their choice.
